vacation is o.v.e.r. i'm home doing chores. well, actually i'm home drinking coffee and lying in bed. but any minute now i'm going to start to do chores. any minute now....
what did i do with my vacation? only have the time of my life with my family. and get a sun tan. we stayed here.
it flew a mean new zealand flag. had fairy lights around the porch at night. and a strict no-dogs policy. we discovered the last part when we got busted for sneaking in jem to the family unit. kelly must have been watching from her lounge window. because ten seconds after we snuck jem in she rang us to say remove the dog immediately. jem is tiny. barely a dog. i felt offended. luckily jem was staying up the road where they had no policies at all. she slept on a sofa.
i also sang my heart out. my cousins and i sat in a tent in the front yard singing anything from get yr freak on to ten guitars and paikea. i mostly listened and took videos. as a result i’m making my first contributions to you tube. singing this good needs to be shared. i expect they will become the most viewed videos. EVER.
we played touch rugby. i scored a try. and broke away from my uncles due to my incredible speed. i would feel proud but for the fact my seven year old cousin managed to do same.
we also played tackle rugby in the local swimming pool. i have bruises. and have spoken individually to each player suggesting the bruises were from them. i got lots of apologies. i just hope they don’t all talk to eachother and find out i was just being a sympathy hog.
to round of the competitive spirit we also played poker. well, texas holdem. gambling fucking rules. i won the nye game. partly because my sister and i managed to offend half the players who one by one stormed off. but if it is victory i’ll claim it.
i also won taboo but this is not an account of how awesome i am (if it was the blog would be much longer) so i shall not go in to it.
i got lots of time with ryles. he is eighteen months old now and can ride horses.
sort of. well, ponies. but still. most talented baby, ever. he also found the phone in the unit and rang kelly at six one morning. that’ll learn her for picking on ryles’ best friend, jem.
by the time it was home time i was feeling big love and big boredom towards my family. the drive home passed pleasantly though with a stop in taihape for pies (gristle with pastry actually) and a chance to see if my cousin was talking to my sister after the poker (fyi the answer was no. seventeen never looked so bitter). we also went to QEII park's open day to see the tram. i took ryles on a model train ride. it broke and we had to walk back. he took it in his stride. i got grumpy and made the train driver go fix it and come back and pick us up. he did, but it didn't save the open day from being lame city.
then it was time for me to leave the whanau and have some friend time at ddg central. and that will be blogged about next. hint: it was a culinary delight.
inspired by a coworker, these are the days of my life...
