launches are my new thing. last night i went to the launch of this book picutred here.

there were paua fritters and scallops wrapped in bacon before speeches. and lindauer for africa. but it was more than that. the first chapter of the book is sooooo good it made me want to weap. and then there great speeches. and there was spitroast for the vips upstairs later. AND I GOT INVITED TO THE SPITROAST. ego boosts make fridays rule.

speaking of ego boosts, two people at the launch asked me to apply for jobs. flattery will get those two everywhere. i probably wont apply for the jobs but i will forever think of them as intelligent, charming, people with excellent judgement.

and back to the launches theme: hebequeen launches her blog this weekend apparently. hebequeen is a former colleague and current friend who has been promising a blog for about two years. actually probably longer. i think she has been talking about it as long as homeperm has been making your week with erudite commentary. and just yesterday i got an email declaring this weekend as THE weekend when it finally happens. my hope is that the launch will somehow be accompanied by paua fritters and scallops wrapped in bacon. but even sans seafood themed launch, stay tuned to my sidebar... i feel a new link coming on.

and one last launch, albeit a double header: friday was the launch of my new eftpos card AND my quest for a new bank. admittedly having access to money is taking the edge off a little, but i am so annoyed with the bank of nz and how they managed to give me bung advice and how they seem to ignore the fact i pay bank fees and charge me for the pleasure of talking to them on the phone. and how their internet banking consultants send snarky emails telling me about acts of good faith: which by the way equate to wiping a thirty cent bank fee which is still less than the cost of a cellphone call to them. anyway my bnz relationship is over and if you have alternative banks and advice i'm all ears.
