i hope you all don't think i spent my entire weekend watching high school musical and sisterhood of the travelling pants. because actually i have a full life.

like on saturday before hsm on dvd i went out to dinner with the ex internet dater and her boyf and we talked about how awesome tracksuits are.

so naturally the next day i walk into town in my hot green and white sneakers and look for a matching tracksuit.

after minutes of searching i find this beauty (here i am pxting myself and looking very uncoordinated but you get the idea, also fyi my phone still isn't sending pxts to anyone and so this whole taking a pxt to ask for second and third opinions did not work because the messages kept failing). thanks canterbury of new zealand.
there are lots of reasons i need a tracksuit.

one: my old tracksuit pants are over three years old, are too long, too big and have sparkles. basically they are a product of their time. and if i recall it was near impossible (at the time i bought these trackies) to find a pair without hot stuff written on the behind.

two: i had nothing to wear to the gym. and that was stopping me from actually going.

three: i had nothing to wear that was both comfortable and tidy looking that i could wear to walk into work in. and that was stopping me from actually walking.

four: sunday afternoons are made for tracksuits. and since i didn't have a tracksuit i wasn't fully enjoying sunday afternoons.

five: i want to look like i'm in the sopranos wherever possible. a tracksuit helps with this.

AND

six: my shoes were running out of things to match perfectly with.

so anyway now i'm looking for as many opportunities as possible to show off my tracksuit. today i got next to know work done. because my numerous meetings were along the following lines...

also i wore my tracksuit in to work today and put off changing into my work dress and cardigan ensemble until the last possible moment. and then for walking home again i put my tracksuit back on at the first opportunity. meaning i was in my work clothes for about fifteen minutes over the lunchbreak. more or less.
when i was walking along the waterfront, i even started to think about how my tracksuit deserves a poem. or an ode to it. blue white and green, you look mean. i can tell the runners are jealous, and wish me malice. they'll try and stock me. oh tracksuit how you rock me. it is windy and you keep me sort of warm. and the boys are starting to swarm. like bees to their queen. cos tracksuit you look mean. or something like that. it was cold. and i was hungry. i forget now exactly how it goes.
incidentally i used google to see if there are other odes to tracksuits and can you believe references to tracksuits appear to be derogatory. confirming my belief that poets need to get off their high horses. because guess what? tracksuits are awesome. thank the lord i now have one.

so i'm back in wellington after walking around lake taupo. i'm amazing. technically i only walked part of the way, but in team sports everyone takes the credit. so i'm taking the credit. anyway, i walked with the most class so that probably means i was carrying the team.

apart from sunburn and sweltering heat, it was pretty easy. so, as with most team activities i'm left wondering if the entire point is getting to spend the weekend away with seventeen people you kind of know and then getting to share car and motel rooms with them, while you pretend you are doing a good job of hiding your contempt at their choice of breakers for breakfast.

although i shouldn't complain. i got in a good car. and had awesome homecooked-breakfast-making motel mates. except for how i shared a room with my sister. which is a whole other story. basically she is extraordinarily bossy even when surrounded by strangers that she should have the decency to be intimidated by.

anyway on the way home i had no ride so had to bum a ride with others, including this woman who has a constant narrative. i pretended to sleep. except when there were fun things on the agenda like a stop for a swim or a view of the mighty waikato river. it is hard to pretend to sleep for five hours. but i did it.

so this weekend i not only performed amazing athletic feats but i proved myself worthy of an oscar. you are lucky i record my life in a blog. it is just so interesting.
