inspired by a coworker, these are the days of my life...

i'm back in THE house. MY house.

I have been road trippin' mostly around the far north.

As you can hopefully see from this map, i went from wellington, where the heart is, with the awesomely tolerant CG and my sister, and her baby, to dargaville (at point a). well not dargaville, but a tiny town outside of dargaville. the name of which i forget.

the town is home to my sister's soon to be parents-in-law. and is stinking hot.

the best part of this town was hanging out with the family really. also i spent a lot of time reading. i bought a whole heap of books. and i was a reading machine. i also bought a large number of magazine's to provide me with horoscopes. apparently there will be a lot going on for me early in the month. i'm all anticipation, i can tell you.

anyway, this house, or more specifically tree, was one of the highlights at point a. sadly, we did not stay here.

The second best thing about dargaville is that it is half an hour from this place. the kai iwi lakes at point b. we spent a day there kayaking around and being oh so not athletic.

one of the very very best stops of the road trip was at point c - kohukohu. this pitstop has already been blogged on - here. the house we stayed in had such a colonial feel, that i needed to make scones. they weren't too bad either, especially considering i didn't have a recipe. (please note, i'm ingnoring the fact that colonialism is like a bad thing. the house was so great, you'd want to make scones too).

and NY eve 2005 was spent at point d, whangarei. In the 'executive suite' of a motel unit - designed in the early nineties (that's my guess anyway). we got the motel room for two reasons. one: to get out of dargaville for the night and experience something different and two: to shower. the house in dargaville (or just outside of dargaville) wasn't on the town supply so we were conserving water. i missed showers. in the way you only can when you take something for granted all of your life and then it is taken away from you. we mostly hung out in the motel unit but also had a great bbq in the carpark of the motel.

there was alcohol. mostly drunken by my sister who had left the gorgeous baby with its grandparents. My sister was amped and up for a big night. so we told her that we'd go for a drive and 'check out the town'. she thought we meant dancing. we meant literally looking at the township. as you can see, we won.

while i had a great time i am super pleased to be home. i'd go back. but maybe without the sister. she is a moody bearch and i'm perfect. Not the best combination. on the upside i have an awesome tan and new sandals. i *know* - more shoes. as if i need them.
