one word: dull.
i filled the lack of excitement through distructive, or at least semi distructive behaviour.
the top four semi-distructive things i did today were:
- ate a bagel that had a bug in it. it was hard bodied. so was probably a beetle. as opposed to a bug. in fairness this was not my fault. i bought the bagel from a bagel shop. it was their fault. and also, to be fair, i saw the bug and didn't eat it. thank goodness. but according to my new years resolution - to be more sensible with money - i should have made a sandwich or something for lunch rather than throw my money away by buying lunch. anyway, the people at wholly bagels gave me a free bagel voucher. so it was a happy ending. plus, the beetle wouldn't have killed me or anything. not that i'm a bug expert.
- rang a boy i was supposed to be not talking to. but you know, we are talking it's just he didn't tell me about a fling slash girlfriend he is cultivating. that everyone else in the world (for it is a long distance affair) seems to know about but me. this is a pattern for me. both the ringing and the having male friends who tell everyone but me stuff about their love lives but can talk to me for hours about farcken music videos. go figure.
- told everyone at work about how my horoscope said that something BIG would happen at work in the first week or so of the year. now it wont happen. i have jinxed it.
- spent time having cups of coffee instead of getting a head start on my work for the year. my other new years reso was to be more perfect. how can i be perfect when i only do an eighth of work i'm capable of.
anyway, who wants to be at work when we can be lying on a beach or - perhaps better - our beds and reading our hearts out.
these are the books i bought over the xmas holiday period.
actually, the one on the end, "the curious incident..." i bought about a month ago. it was good though.
Beach Boy, which i read in record time for me (i'm a sah-low reader) was an unexpectedly nice story. i was worried though in the second chapter when the 12 yr old narrator was talking about giving his father's friends 'sexual favours' (note that is my expression. the book was far more explicit).
i'm currently reading zadie smith's white teeth. which is not pictured by virtue of being on my bedside table (on top of my awesome hardback copy of little women). it is ace so far. and i can't believe all these books were only five dollars each!
oh and although i haven't discussed it for a while, i'm continuing my watching tv series on dvd thing. i am currently watching my so called life (i'm more than half way through so have got to the point where i don't want it to end, so am savouring each episode and rationing hardcore) and family guy. both are far superior to the fresh prince of bell air series one. which, in retrospect, was dire.

anyway i think you have the wrong boy. but good guess...
jessica: you must be watching series 2 or later. there is not enough carlton in series one and certainly not enough dancing.
