this picture is of glenelg. thanks to google images. i would upload my own pictures but despite the awesomeness of adelaide there are some sux things about this place. including the one internet cafe that will actually accept my custom, not allowing me to (a) use gmail or (b) upload images.
glenelg is about half an hour out of the city and it is actually *this* beautiful. i went there last night with one of my old lecturers. that's right... i have friends in adelaide. so my dreams of sitting up in my hotel suite watching tele and knitting or learning to crochet = out the window.
on that - my hotel suite - i feel like i'm in pretty woman. not as the hooker. but the guy with the great hotel room. okay it is MUCH smaller than the penthouse in pretty woman. MUCH smaller. but it is still luxurious by my standards. i'd like to live there forever.
another thing i like about adelaide is that i can pick up guys like *that* (insert snapped fingers here). well to be honest maybe i can't. and maybe i don't want to. but the point is that i was talking to this chick - my new bestest friend - and she was telling me which bars to go to and they sounded awesome (vinyl night this thursday for example - i heart vinyl) but i showed some kind of reluctance because the idea of going to a bar alone leaves me with memories of my one attempt in dorkland at same and how i am sure the barman was being mean to me cos i had no mates. anyway my new bestest friend said "the boys will be buying you drinks and talking to you all night, are you kidding?" BLESS HER SOUL. i went to her presentation on the basis of that comment.
also they have this place called haigh's chocolates. guess where i just spent my last five dollars? on three chocolates. but i expect them to be very nice. and as a thank you for buying something from their shop the assistants gave me four chocolate raisins. best chocolate raisins ever. also at haigh's they've solved the whole milk chocolate or dark chocolate debate by covering their almonds in first milk, then dark, chocolate. i expect it to be divine.
oh and when i went to find out about renting a car before the woman was like "we prefer drivers over 25" and i was like "bingo, i am over 25" and she *almost didn't believe me*.
i can't wait for hels and dp to get her so i can share just how fantastic adelaide is with them. for the rest of you, i will post relentlessly and regularly. i mean it is not as if i can check my emails here!
