the lie: the hut is two hours walk. you could run it in 25 minutes.
the truth: it took us six hours to walk there.
i went tramping with some friends this weekend. well two really good friends and a couple i sort of know but don't know that well.
i have always hated tramping but was convinced to try it again. plus, you know i love nature and trees and stuff....
anyway, it turns out i was right the first time. tramping sucks. things i hate about tramping include walking up hills, walking down hills, carrying stuff, and the fact that people always give you the hard sell, eg it is only short and flat, when really they are lying bastards.
and i got lost in the bush. and had to contemplate building a shelter with CG. luckily we had enough bananas and chocolate to last us through the night. even more luckily JoB came looking for us and saved us from despair. but the couple, meanwhile weren't worried and spent their time swimming and redecorating the hut. the couple may have been cute, but let me tell you there was some bitterness in the hut. a much of it coming from me.
i managed to make it back today. a great deal of the bitterness has been sweated away. my entire body aches. and i will never be able to walk the same again. but the resolve remains: i will never tramp again.

hmmm... a nice strong man as my guide. now that's the type of tramping i could get into. but he'd have to be quite a hottie to convince me that tramping is something other than hell with a backpack.
