call me leonard maltin. actually, don't. but basically all i do these days is work and go to movies. especially now that i have grown weary of lol dogs.
the good thing about movies in general is that you get to sit in a dark room with your phone off.
movies i've seen since my last post:
1. hancock.
i deviated from my diet of film festival movies for hancock. watercooler gossip was that the movie was only 60% good. watercooler gossip was right. it was worth the ticket price just to have missed late night phone calls. plus that first 60% was great. although that could have been the two for one (or as it turned out four for one) cocktails at chow beforehand. also there is debate about whether buff will smith or skinny big ears will smith is hotter. i go for buff. 6/10
2. the wave
i vaguely remember hearing about the book at school. from our third form science teacher. the one who rewarded me with a mars bar for memorising some sort of table. it was my scientific life highlight. anyhoo, i wasn't sure exactly what to expect in this movie. and the 'facist' film society member who forced me to take the worst seat in the house put me off the movie from the get go. but overall it was good. by the end i (a) was in shock and (b) surprised i couldn't speak perfect (or in fact any) german. i couldn't sympathise with the female lead, even though she was the 'voice of reason', which was the nail in the coffin of this movie though. 7/10 or at at strech 7.5 / 10. no robin hood in other words.
3. anvil! the story of anvil.
remember that rockin' canadian band anvil? and how they rocked 1984? neither. mostly because 1984 was all about beat it and the ghostbusters themesong.
anyway, two men who do remember how anvil rocked 1984 are lead singer lips and drummer robb reiner. and like in that song, they're rockin' the suburbs. when they're not delivering hot lunches to local schools. the movie was billed as a real life this is spinal tap. and kind of it was. but it was much sadder. by the end i wanted to cry. but it was good. 8/10 easy. i would have given more if robb's wife and her 1980s hair had more screen time.
4. i think we're alone now.
fast forward to 1988 and you know what was rocking my tape deck?... tiffany. i am not alone in this. obviously. and a friend of mine got to see her in real life and TOUCHED HER HAND at a concert in london not that long ago. and so obviously tiffany and i have a real connection.
this documentary is proof i'm drawn to the aspergic. as i found out about two of tiffany's hardcore followers. the first guy is so much of a hardcore follower he got mentioned on the e true hollywood story: tiffany that was on c4 a few weeks ago. he's the aspergic one. by the end of the doco i felt kind of up beat about him. he's going to get married in the next ten years, probably to alyssa milano. he has prospects. kelly, the intersex fan is in less good of a situation. but then, i've just stalked her youtube page and am thinking maybe i'm being too patronising with my pity. not enough actual tiffany, but totally gripping. 8/10.
inspired by a coworker, these are the days of my life...

I feel that this lifestyle is ill-matched to a fun-lovin girl such as yourself. Plus I miss you.
