today i felt like the grinch who stole christmas. i complained about how there was too much picnicing not enough working at work. and then all eyes were on me. i may have been a public servant too long.



so now i'm reminding myself about what is awesome about this time of year (other than picnics, which i like but HELLO only in moderation...)

The fourteen reasons the yuletide is gay....

1. the greatest song of all time** is usually on in every third shop.
2. the greatest video clip of all time (which goes with the greatest song of all time) is usually on tele at least three times a week
3. you get to wrap presents
4. you get to live in a grotto dedicated to the memory of diana, queen of hearts
5. there are presents
6.people send you christmas cards and you can enter competitive christmas card competitions with colleagues to finally decide who is more popular (ps if you know where i work, send me a card ASAP)
7.there is so much free food at work i don't have to spend a cent on groceries
8. shops stay open later than normal, meaning i can buy impulse purchases for myself on the way home
9. shoppers evenings where they give you champagne and christmas mince pies
10. christmas mince pies
11. bob geldof (the brains behind the second greatest christmas song of all time - oh and secret shame... reeeeow)
12. family singstar competitions - this year the heat is on with singstar r and b.
13. nephews. they rule all year round but especially at christmas
14. ham



**oh, and in case you couldn't figure it out... the greatest song of all time is last christmas. it makes me weap.
