inspired by a coworker, these are the days of my life...

this wall paper reminds me of three things:

1) in my fave small town - taumaranui - there was a dressmaker at least until the late 1990s. that dress maker made dresses that would have looked at home at a party where this was on the walls. the dress maker had won awards, i'm sure. like the benson and hedges supreme fashion award 1976. or something. how it survived in taumaranui is a mystery. but it's not there now. there are instead about five versions of the $2 shop. and a postie +. the fashions from postie + do not belong with this wallpaper.

2)the closing scenes of waynes world where they have the three possible endings. and when wayne and garth switch between endings the screen goes all blurry like this.

3) how i had a great weekend in melbourne with one of my favourite people in the world. this wallpaper was in our hotel. further emphasising the falseness of its 'victorian mansion' claim.

while i like the finish of paint compared with the ugly wallpaper i was subjected to throughout my childhood (think vinyl) i am all nostalgic for wall paper. i can't wait to have my own home to wallpaper. i just finished reading a lois lowry book. where the main character wants to wallpaper her bedroom with white wallpaper with blue silhouettes of a man and a woman. one of them is on a bike. i think it sounds like the best wallpaper ever.

well, second best wallpaper.
