the cooking class was awesome. but tensions as when it came to sampling the food there were

afterwards we got to shop in the store and get $5 off our purchases. i went nuts. buying up their left over christmas stuff. this bread cake is fricken delicious and i would have bought more if my arms could have carried them. i bought other random ingredients also. my new thing is buying random ingredients and putting them in my cupboard. i may never eat them. but right this second i have very good intentions to.
HRC also bought maria pia's cookbook. and Maria signed it. and wrote special note to HRC. Maria touched me. which she explained as an italian thing. very touchy. she told me. i wanted to touch her back, to let her know i appreciated her culture. and pasta. etc... but couldn't because i was holding far too many panettone.
mmmm, i'm hungry. i'm going to have the best lunch ever tomorrow. panettone and tin of fried aubergine (country of origin: turkey)

ha! ha. i am so amused by today's post. smashing.
is it just me or does maria look like she's holding a bunch of live earthworms? i feel sick. tell her to stop.
p.s. i went to lunch with *pete* yesterday.
oh my god how was *pete*. and you'll be interested to know that maria made a vegetarian meal for us. it involved artichoke. which i thought i hated. not when cooked by maria though, as it turns out.
the artichoke is the vegetarian's meat. the mushroom is so 1984.
i know *pete* reads your blog so i can't tell you my true feelings. i jest. *pete* was very high quality. he has many fascinating things to say. including that: his sister is a National Park Service Ranger at Yosemite. like with the brown uniform and the wide-brimmed hat! pete is going to set me up with her when i go there in august w/ julia, so i can get a photo next to my fave uniform of all time. it's the kind of uniform that makes disney critters come leaping up to you to offer you nuts because you're, like, protecting their forest. nuts.
