THE WORLD...

A year ago today I began my short world tour. The photo is of casper, my wee Olympian snowman, made across the road from Shermans – Cambridge, Mass. US of A.

I kept the worlds most awesome travel journal while I was away.

My last 8th of November lasted around 40 hours as I flew from NZ to LA then to Boston. This is an excerpt from my journal that day:

Barely slept last night. Kept thinking I could feel the beginnings of DVT. Snuck a peek out of the window a few hours ago… gorgeous stars / cloud combo… Despite obvious majesty I can’t help but wonder what is for breakfast.

Very poignant.

Oh my gosh! my first blog spam! how cool is that.

Even though it is spam I'll pretend
"Hey you've got a great blog here, the best I've seen so far, keep up the good job!" was meant for me and me alone.

The best seen so far! how wicked is that!

oh my lord, i am so delighted can hardly breathe. i just visited your blog for the first time (incidentally, "Hey you've got a great blog here, the best I've seen so far, keep up the good job!"), *expressly* in order to post a whining comment about how you have had it for 2 months and i haven't been mentioned once even though i read ALL THE ARCHIVES, and what do i see but a photo of our first born son casper eloitious baker de bres on the very front page. though it is kind of disappointing because now i don't get to complain.

p.s. here is an exciting piece of news for you, from one of my top 9 u.s. cities, lots of love from lena:

my fave line:

This mysterious mongrel has called the 5,000-acre contaminated expanse of the Berkeley Pit federal Superfund site, combined with Montana Resources' active mine permit area, its home since 1986.

imagine calling a contaminated expanse home! what a dog.
