Home again

Home is where the heart is. And my home has so much heart right now. It is a place that welcomes christmas with open arms, for example.

Bucking tradition (who says November is TOO early?) I have turned my house into a santa's grotto. When you come to my door, you can't ring my bell because it is otherwise engaged holding up the world's most ace christmas wreath...

I also have the most AWESOME nativity. It involves Diana, the people's princess, but I shall say no more. I need to leave some surprise for those who come visit me this festive season.

Speaking of festive, I had a festive time at my conference in Waitangi last week. There were soooo many functions. It dawned on me that these things are really all about the networking. It is a cruel realisation that I am not a networker. I have been kidding myself for the past two or so years. It is not a strength. I must remove all references to networking from my CV.

At the conference most people were staying in the same hotel as me. Every morning most would go down and catch up over breakfast. Not me. Frankly, I'd had enough of them over morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, predinner drinks, dinner and dancing the night before. I would get room service and watch breakfast news tv. It is god awful. Actually, it was nearly enough to make me join my fellow conference attendees at the breakfast buffet.

Instead, I tried some physical activity. I walked up to the Waitangi Marae and snuck into the grounds early so that I didn't have to pay the $12 fee. Luckily I had my camera.

I also got to see glow worms. And ate amazing food. And the way to my heart is through my stomach. So while home is where the heart is mostly some of my heart is back up in Northland. Maybe I should go back for my christmas holidays. Ahe...
