best use of a lunch break ever.

materials:
*four old and tatty folders
*the woodland-appropriate creatures you've collected unwittingly in your office over the past three years
*scissors
*sticky tape
*childlike enthusiasm

i am so pleased with how my desk looks now. i am *slightly* worried though that it may get in the way of working. but i'm prepared to make that compromise.

if you want help being massively unpopular in your office, i've got it.

everytime something goes wrong you simply say:

"this is such a drysdale".

then refuse to watch the olympics because you're sick of seeing new zealanders pull a drysdale.

and then start to refer to bronze medal winners as a bunch of drysdales.

____

today was my best day at work for the longest time. we watched bevan doherty pull a drysdale and get a bronze on the big screen tele. and i got to launch four documentaries, which i had planted the seeds for with my exceptional imagination(they are obviously work documentaries, don't get too excited), i booked alicia keys tickets (i hear you say why? but the question should really be why not?) and i had cornflakes and watties fruit salad for breakfast at the documentary launch. oh, and i kept the wheels of democracy turning and what not.

but then i get home and discover my broadband limit has been BLOWN for the month.

in other words i've done a drysdale*.

*bloody tvnz live streaming of men's gymnastics has been nothing but bad news. in short, and despite the way it is all i can talk about, i can't wait until the bloody olympics are over.

so the neighbourhood kids have probably put a hit out on me. because of my halloween gift to them... scroggin. i hope none of the neighbourhood kids were allergic to nuts.

anyway i tried really hard to get into the spirit of scaring. i had my halloween mask handy. i even actually had sweets. but they were mostly used up on the kid who knocked on the door with a supermarket bag on his head claiming to be a monkey. i'm a sucker for the unfortunate. anyway, this meant that by the time the vagrant kids with the actual costumes came out, i was out of lollies. and then once i was out of scroggin, i turned off my lights and hid in the kitchen.

which reminds me, i'm basically a recluse. i only talk to you if you're a coworker. i ran into like three people in the street today and i couldn't remember how to talk to them if i wasn't going to talk about work. which also reminds me today someone got in the lift and i talked to them, because they are a coworker. and they said "thank goodness it is humpday. it is all down hill to the weekend". and i was reminded why coworkers make the best conversation.

oh my god. is that ANOTHER knock on the door. time to go and pretend i'm not home....

koreans are hilarious. well, maybe not all of them, because it is my job to recognise diversity. and the chances of an entire population grouping having the same hilarious characteristic is pretty unlikely. so, to be more precise, koreans that translate cute little poems on notebooks into english are out of this world funny.

today i bought myself a new notebook, which i will call marineblues.

note the words under the title marineblues:

it is where you can find the life of a person in their twenties filled with
little happiness in life

using this notebook at work will be funnier than the time i printed off the inspirational powerpoint and stuck it to my desk.

to further illustrate the life of the person in their twenties with no happiness in their life, there are pictures...

as rove mcmanus would say, what the?

__________

i miss rove mcmanus being on tele. it wasn't as if i ever watched, except for that time simon le bon was on and he claimed his band had more liaisons with women while on tour than robbie williams. again, what the? i mean i would pash simon le bon at the drop of a hat, but even with his current drug issues, i'd say robbie sees more action than the entire duran duran entourage.

if everyone in wellington guessed less than eleven out of the twenty four oscar categories right, i'm in the running for a free movie ticket from rialto cinemas for my oscar predictions. it would have been twelve out of twenty four (ie fifty percent) if the academy had done the honourable thing and recognised will smith's large and powerful body of work. made in america was freakin' awesome. for example.

__________

tonight i won at board games. specifically ticket to ride. i rewarded myself with some selfportraits.
