i'm probably the most original person ever. because hello, i just realised i'm living in office space. well, there is no milton and no stapler. but there are cover sheets for tps reports and memos about how to use them.

plus the thing about today is that i dressed a bit on the ugly betty side. then i wrote a memo and guess what: not perfect. i guess there is a first for everything but i am just not used to someone changing my writing style. i mean, i have a way with words. i thought. this all lead to me having frozen french fries (heated obviously) and chocolate for dinner. in other words, i was under a bit of a cloud.

thank god there are up sides to my job. like how now i can car pool to work. this stops me being like erin - hating on the bus service with 30 % of my heart. although to be fair, i've had a good run with the buses. and even though i caught a minature sized one after work the other day, which had what i imagine to be the smell of an incontinent homeless person, buses are also a little bit adorable. what with their electric powered drivers and buttons you can press to make them stop. somedays i'm tempted to push the stop button for no reason. like the naughty girls on the bus in form two. mostly i control myself. mostly.

i hate to romanticise the past. like the past is when things were great and now is when things are stink. like how people are all excited about how joy bars have been rereleased, but then i had one the other day and it was nothing to write home about. in fact the new fruju is much more exciting and rewarding.

but i don't think i am being overly romantic about the past when i say: the buses just used to be better. at the risk of being predictable, catching a bus is now the stinkest part of my day. i slept in this morning, for example, and it took 45 minutes to get to work on the bus. incidentally it takes 45 minutes to WALK to work. but i didn't walk since i didn't know that the bus was going to go literally at a snails pace one it FINALLY arrived. tomorrow i will consider walking.
if i were to find a silver lining to the cloud of my life that is the bus situation, at least you can't say catching a bus is boring. you get on a bus and lord only knows which route it will take, or whether the new and improvised route will include your stop. also, it builds social capital because the current situation means you have to talk to the person next to you. even if it is just to ask whether this is the number eleven bus.
the other silver lining is that i'm trying to be more grown up so i now listen to national radio on the way to work instead of justin timberlake's latest album. so the longer the bus takes the more informed i am. like today i learned all about auckland city's billboard bylaw proposals. very interesting. i mean, not interesting to me. but to someone. and i'm sure that is important...
