i have a love hate relationship with more things than i care to list. like this mug. although, if i'm being honest, it is mostly love.

when i was a kid my favourite book was little black sambo and the tiger. they made butter and played on slides. the joy of imagining myself on that slide! i thought sambo was about my dad.

i also thought my dad played the cheeky barman, isaac, on the love boat.

imagine if he was though. it would have been AWESOME to be isaac's daughter. i would have probably got to go to acapulco when he had to shoot on location. instead sometimes i'd get to go to the hutt to eat sherbert watch dad play rugby.

and even though i don't want to start listing everything i love hate, i'm gonna give you one more. synth folk music.

actually, i lie. there is no hate.

i love shona laing like i love the all time best new zealand town slogan. you could say, she's right up my hutt valley.

also right up my hutt valley was last night's party at morgue and cazza's. best. mulled wine. ever.

exit light, enter night. whatever. i hate day light savings. it is only a bit after nine thirty and i am so ready for my pyjamas right now. instead i'm lying in bed fully clothed. waiting until it turns ten so i can pretend i'm an adult who goes to bed at a reasonable hour (rather than the nana that i really am).

speaking of grandparents, it was my dad's birthday today. i bought him socks. then he rang me to tell me what he really wanted was bluff oysters. so i drove LITERALLY ALL OVER WELLINGTON looking for them. i LITERALLY went into every fishie chippie between my house and my dad's house and all i got were two sorry oysters. although i have it on authority that they were very very fine oysters. and for two dollars sixty each, they better have been awesome. plus the way they cost me and the environment like ten dollars in petrol. but i should note that my dad is worth the financial ruin and environmental degradation. he buys me ginger beer when i give myself food poisoning. which, touch wood, hasn't happened for a while.

apart from giving my dad socks and eating some of the chocolate i gave my mother for her birthday four days ago, the highlight of tonight was when my nephew fell asleep in my arms. i was worried i would eat him, he was so amazingly tasty looking. i don't even care that it makes me sound mental. plus when he woke up again he was singing the tellytubbies theme song. well, the part that goes tinky winky, la la etc... which may be the most precious thing to ever happen on this earth. which is why i'm telling you about it. you are a part of history.

and what else... oh i got my email address wrong on my birthday invites. SHAME. honestly. SHAME. and the worst thing is that it is the kind of wrong where i can't even make up a new email address to match the mistake because the mistake had an underscore and weirdly geee mail doesn't let you use underscores. what the?

oh and the other thing is, there are lots of people i want to invite to my birthday party but whose home address i don't have. if you are reading this and you think it applies to you, feel free to email me at one of my three functional e-dresses. perhaps the most helpful one being amazinginternetdater (oh how times have passed, as i recently broke up with my internet boyf due to consistently not replying to him) at geee mail dot com.

that is all. and luckily it is now almost ten o'clock. ten more minutes of awake time and i can have a guilt free pyjama jammy jam.
